HSEC preparation classes focus on improving basic skills in the areas of Language Arts (Reading & 写作)和数学. When the students’ placement test scores are high enough, they transition into Test Review classes. After successfully earning the High School Equivalency Certificate, they can participate in the annual HSEC 毕业 Ceremony.

需求 for the HSEC (formerly GED) Program
In order to be eligible to take one of the HSEC tests, an individual must:
- 年满17岁
- 不 be a high school graduate or a HSEC credential recipient
- Have been a resident of the State of Illinois for thirty (30) days

Students who take the placement exam and whose reading level is determined to be below the 9th Grade level are placed into ABE classes until their reading level reaches the 9th Grade level required for admission into the HSEC program. ABE classes provide instruction in Reading or Math.

i-Pathways®在线课程
i-Pathways courses provide online preparation for the HSEC test. 完成分班考试后, students who are qualified to enroll in the i-Pathways Online Program will be notified and provided with registration information.

Several months prior to the start of class, Morton College will announce dates on which applicants should register for an orientation class at Morton College. After registering, applicants will receive their start date for orientation.

During orientation, ABE and HSEC students are required to take a reading and/or math exam. The Secretary of the State of Illinois and the Illinois Community College Board, 我们项目的资金来源, requires all students to be tested at program entry and also at specified times during the year.
